Intimacy Defined

Steve and I have talked weekly, sometimes more, since we graduated from UVA's masters program more than twenty years ago.  Conversation ranges from, picking each other's brain on training, humor, music, relationships - all  the stuff people talk about in a Tribal Lodge.

The other day he commented that he'd heard intimacy defined as "to know and be known" and said that for him, he and I share that to a greater extent than he does with any other human.  It struck me as a supreme definition and I realize the desire for this, "to know and be known" is strong in me.  For me depth in a relationship is it's measure of worth.  This is also true for him.

That desire, "to know and be known," is, for me, a strong driving force behind blogging.
